Holmes capped off a brilliant UW career in 1984 when he was named a consensus All American. He was a two time all conference player and still holds the UW record for tackles for loss in a season with 23 in 1983. He is also second on UW’s career sack list with 28 and is tied with Mark Stewart for the school record for sacks in a game with five. He was the MVP of the 1984 team that finished with one loss and defeated Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. Drafted in the first round by Tampa Bay Holmes played seven seasons in the NFL and started for Denver in Super Bowl XXIV.
