Defensive linemen who won the award twice include Dana Wells/Arizona (1987-88), Steve Emtman/UW (1990-91), Sedrick Ellis/USC (2006-07), Stephen Paea/OSU (2009-10), and Will Sutton/ASU (2012-13).

In total, The Morris Trophy has been awarded to 82 different players since 1980.


In The Draft

33 Morris Trophy winners have been first round picks in the NFL draft. 2015 winners Josh Garnett (Stanford) and DeForest Buckner (Oregon) were selected in the first round by the 49ers. It’s the fourth time Morris Trophy winners have been taken in the first round of the same draft and the only time they’ve been selected by the same team.
