Greg Gaines, Washington. 2018

Washington NT Greg Gaines joined his teammate Kaleb McGary as Morris Trophy winners in 2018. One school has produced both winners just seven times in Morris Trophy history. Gaines and McGary became the second pair of Huskies to claim the award in the same year joining Steve Emtman and Lincoln Kennedy who both won the Morris Trophy in 1991.  

Gaines was an all-conference pick his last year at UW before being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2019 draft. He played for the Rams team that won the Super Bowl in 2022 and recorded three tackles in the game. In 2023 he signed a free agent contract with Tampa Bay.
