Ball earned consensus All-America honors as a senior and started for UCLA for three seasons. In addition to the Morris Trophy in 2003 he was selected ABC-Chevrolet National Defensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for National Defensive Player of the Year and for the Lombardi Award, presented to the Nation’s  Top Lineman. He was the winner of the Pop Warner Award as Top Senior Player on the West Coast and named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year by league‘s coaches. Finished career with a school-record 30.5 sacks. Selected in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers and played nine years in the league with Carolina, the Jets and Tennessee.
